Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) enforces the federal laws and regulations and has primary federal jurisdiction over the manufacture, import, domestic and interstate commerce of firearms, ammunition, explosives and defense articles. ATF also regulates the exportation of National Firearms Act weapons.

Individuals and businesses who want to import firearms, ammunition, explosives or other defense articles may need to first obtain a license, permit or registration from ATF. For further information, please visit ATF’s web site at http://www.atf.gov ( ATFOnline ) or contact your local ATF office, listed in the blue pages of your telephone book.
