The ITDS Board of Directors Product Information Committee presented a concept paper on recommendations for the use of “product information codes” to the ITDS Board of Directors. The report contains recommendations on ways to provide government agencies with more specific product classification information via ACE to make fast and accurate decisions about cargo admissibility at U.S. borders. A summary of that paper is provided.

National Marine Fisheries Service Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for ACE and ITDS (pdf - 52 KB.)

On May 8, 2009 the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) published an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) and request for comments in the Federal Register notifying the trade that NMFS intends to collect import/export information through ITDS and ACE. Among other things, the ANPRM includes a paragraph on how NMFS use of the ACE Portal has improved their operations and sets the stage for NMFS to collect identifiers such as DUNS numbers and product codes.

What is ITDS?
The ITDS program supports the Participating Government Agencies (PGAs) contributing to the development of the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE). The ITDS program assists these agencies in identifying, documenting, and executing their plan to leverage ACE to improve business operations and further agency missions.

What is ACE?
ACE automates and consolidates border processing and is the centralized access point that connects CBP, the trade community, and other government agencies.
